What challenge can you take on to move you closer to your ideal life?

Can Taking on a Challenge Help You Move Forward?

October 1, 2013 | , ,

When you’re feeling stuck or uninspired, or you want to try something new or create a new habit, taking on a specific challenge can help you move forward.

That’s why this month, I’m participating in the Ultimate Blog Challenge! This means I’m supposed to publish a new blog post every day (or a total of 31 times) this month, so you’re going to be seeing a lot more action here on Nomadtopia than you usually do. For me, this challenge is an opportunity to flex my writing muscles and also get into the habit of blogging more regularly (something that’s often been a struggle for me, truth be told).

So how about you, would you like to take on a challenge? What would it be?

What’s something that would get you moving forward toward your Nomadtopia?

The challenge might be to do something you don’t normally do, or to not do something you do normally do. It works best if you set out to do it for a specific period of time, like a month, which is long enough to have some lasting effect (some say it takes 30 days to establish a new habit), but not so long that it feels overwhelming.

Here are some ideas to get you started:

  • Write (or blog) every day
  • Curb unnecessary spending
  • Try something new every day
  • Take a photo every day
  • Identify something you’re grateful for every day
  • Contact a new business lead every day
  • Take one small step toward Nomadtopia every day
  • Do some form of physical exercise every day
  • Spend 10 minutes decluttering every day
  • Meditate every day
  • Stop eating [insert your favorite junk food here]

What challenge feels most exciting to you? What kind of action would get you moving toward your ideal life?
